Why do cats knead? Vet Vs The Net
Have you seen your cat do this? Ever wondered why they do it? Luckily for us, Jenny the vet has some answers...
What is kneading?
Kneading is when a cat pushes against something from paw to paw – usually their bed of their owner’s leg.
And why do cats knead?
Kneading is a habit that cats first adopt when they’re kittens. They do it to their mother, usually because they want milk. If a cat kneads against their owner, it’s usually because they feel nice and safe and secure – just like they once did around their own mother!
Cat scratching your furniture?
If your cat kneads against your furniture and scratches it by accident, consider providing them with a scratching post, or distracting them with a game or a cuddle!
